Where Your Child's Happiness Begins

Our Approach to Child Care
At Southgate Early Years, we are dedicated to providing a nurturing and stimulating environment for your child. Our team is passionate about early childhood development and committed to creating a safe and supportive space where your child can learn, play, and grow. We believe in the importance of individualised care and strive to understand and meet the unique needs of each child in our care.
Nestled in a charming corner of Southgate, our nursery combines a homely setting with the structure and richness of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum. We work in close partnership with parents to ensure each child’s unique needs are met.

Our Team
Our Nursery Leadership Team, including our Manager, Deputy, Room Leaders, Early Years Educators, Support Staff, and wider Advisory Team, are fully committed to delivering outstanding childcare every single day. Guided by the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), we ensure that every decision we make places children at the heart of our practice.
Our one-team approach reflects the structure expected within UK nursery settings, where qualified professionals work collaboratively to meet each child’s individual needs, interests, and stage of development. All staff are appropriately trained and qualified in line with EYFS requirements, with a strong focus on safeguarding, wellbeing, and high-quality early education. We strictly adhere to statutory staff-to-child ratios—ensuring children receive attentive, responsive care. For example, ratios are typically 1:3 for children under two, 1:5 for two-year-olds, and 1:8 (or 1:13 with a qualified teacher) for children aged three and over.
These standards ensure children are properly supervised, supported, and able to thrive in a safe learning environment. Each child is supported by a key person, a fundamental part of the EYFS approach, who builds strong relationships with both the child and their family, ensuring continuity of care and personalised learning experiences.
Our continuous improvement ethos is driven by our commitment to reflective practice. We actively seek new ideas, innovations, and feedback to enhance our curriculum, environment, and overall childcare experience—ensuring we not only meet but exceed regulatory standards.
Safety First
Safety is our top priority at Southgate Early Years. We maintain the highest standards of health and safety to ensure the well-being of every child.
Our staff is well-trained in emergency procedures, and we conduct regular safety checks to provide parents with peace of mind. We adhere to strict cleanliness and hygiene practices to create a healthy environment for your child's growth and development.
